Update: Testers found that saving only works in 3.0 beta, thanks! For the geeks out there, toDataURL is not supported in anything before 3 according to google..

In one of our projects, I need a way to get peoples signature. Could the iPhone be used for this? And could this be done in an webapp?

Meet <Canvas>!

First try was with the excellent Processing in the javascript implementation, with additions from Michael Schieben. In the iPhone simulator it works fine, but the real device is not fast enough to update the screen without lag as you draw.

I rewrote the whole thing, only needing black pen on white canvas. So now it is about as fast as it gets on the iPhone. Ajax encoding of the image with base64, sending it to the server, and saving it included.
